Flotsam & Jetsam 6

36 balloons today
Tropical Storm Warning! Feeling the effects of Isaac, we had a lot to clean up today before he purges more debris from the sea. The usual: plastic, polystyrene, straws, caps, shoes, single-use plastic beverage bottles, lures, yards of rope & fishing line & more Cuban debris still lingering. 36 balloons – 26 latex & 10 Mylar. Balloons blow & plastic sucks!

12 balloons
Usual crap: Single-use plastic bottles, plastic utensils, lots of plastic “chokables,” polystyrene, some more lingering Cuban debris & a mermaid barbie. A few things from far away places.. Venezuela, Argentina, Netherlands, Malaysia & even Australia! 12 balloons – 10 latex & 2 mylar. We’ve been seeing a lot of beach butterflies lately & this one decided to join us in our picture today.

1 Balloon Today
Another beautiful day at the beach while my sister’s at work. Lots of small polystyrene pieces on the beach from an old foam raft that washed ashore last week. They finally took the raft out of there but not before small bits scattered the wrack line. A few drink cans, plastic single-use bottles, fishing gear, and a few old sunglasses. 1 latex balloon. Made a dolphin friend in the sand with the words “Protect me. Keep beaches clean” in front of it as a friendly reminder to passers-by!
