Most of these balloons are those falsely marketed by the balloon industry as “biodegradable latex.” All photos were taken by Balloons Blow on Hutchinson Island, Florida, USA – unless otherwise noted. All photos with citations may be used for education purposes.
Flotsam and Jetsam 3

Plastic debris & 15 balloons
Brought in with the sargassum with help from the swell from Tropical Storm Beryl. Too much plastic and 15 darn balloons: 9 latex, 6 mylar. Yesterday, 3 latex, 3 Mylar. This weekends total, 21.

Flotsam & Jetsam
Strong east winds gave us a plentiful catch. Way too much single use plastics and 16 darn balloon: 14 latex, 2 Mylar.

23 Balloons Today
All washed ashore on a beach not frequented by beach-goers. 20 feet of rope, 42 single-use plastic bottles, 6 pieces of fishing net, 8×10 plastic sheet, 1 giant wad of shredded shrink wrap, 1 car bumper, yards of tangled fishing line, various other plastic. And 23 darn balloons: 15 latex & 8 Mylar.

Refuse to use single-use plastics
42 single-use plastic bottles all washed ashore on a beach not frequented by beach-goers. Just a quarter mile stretch. Most of these bottles are years old, a couple water bottles fairly new, still sealed.

10 Balloons Today
Scored this sweet kiddy tube today, and had a manatee swim right by me. The usual marine debris, mostly plastic, some rope and styrofoam. Of course, 10 darn balloons: 5 latex, 5 Mylar.

14 Balloons Today
Quick stop at the beach after work for a nice walk, swim & a little cleanup. Too much plastic!! 14 balloons (9 latex, 5 Mylar) and a $10 bill that washed in at my feet.

7 Balloons Today
Unusual findings this week. Quite often we find things from Haiti, Dominican Republic & Bahamas. But this week, everything we found with a label on it is from Cuba. Including 23 bottles of Cuban rum, 19 medicine bottles, 14 pill bottles & loads of oil-laden styrofoam & plastic bottles. Very strange. And of course, 7 balloons: 5 latex, 2 Mylar.
